About Icarus Puppet Company

San Diego based Icarus Puppet Company is a California non-profit organization, performing puppetry programs throughout the Western region.

Dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults by engaging families and communities with professional puppet theatre,
Icarus Puppet Company creates original plays with puppets, educational programs, and presenting programs. The company explores and exploits a wide range of puppetry styles through fun and entertaining programs.

Founded in 1990, the company is operated by Mark Robertson and Rosemary Tyrrell, who have the combined experience of over 40 years performing for children, are members of the Puppeteers of America, the San Diego Performing Arts League, the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau, and UNIMA-USA. In 2000 alone
Icarus Puppet Company produced 270 programs, including performances of original puppet plays, classes, and special engagements.

Icarus Puppet Company embraces puppetry as a form of serious theater and invites the audience to join in the experience. Icarus accomplishes this by blending many art forms to create dynamic programs; including, music, dance, masks, storytelling and acting.
