Artist Biographies
Rosemary Tyrrell
Co-founder, playwright and executive director Rosemary Tyrrell performs in
Icarus Puppet Company. She has over 20 years experience performing for young
audiences and has performed with the Bowery Theatre, Marquis Public Theatre,
and the Saturday Play Company, among others. She has directed at the Marquis
Public Theatre and the San Diego Public Theatre as well as with Icarus
Puppet Company and the Saturday Play Company.
Rosemary was honored in
1998 by Women Together as an outstanding woman from the arts and culture
community. Rosemary also has many years experience as a professional
educator. She teaches acting at the Fashion Institute for Design and
Merchandising, and through the Institute for Arts Education program and the
Poinsettia Artist in the Classroom project.
She has taught at Miramar
College, City College and participated in the CORO Arts Leadership program
and the State Board of Education's California Arts Project. After receiving
a BA in psychology from Youngstown State University in Ohio, Rosemary earned
her MA in Theater from the University of Kansas.
Mark Robertson
Co-founding member and artistic director Mark Robertson holds a degree in
theater/acting from the University of Kansas, and has been making and
working with puppets for over 30 years. In addition to puppetry, Mark has
worked professionally as actor, designer, director, stunt choreographer,
stage manager, and playwright.
Mark has performed at
Lamb’s Players, the Gaslamp Quarter Theatre, the North Coast Repertory
Theatre, the San Diego Public Theatre and with the Saturday Play Company. In
1998, Mark performed with Perry Alley Theater at the National Puppetry
Conference at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center.
He was the first
recipient of the Puppeteers of America travel scholarship and co-founded the
Saturday Play Company with Rosemary Tyrrell. |
